8 Winnipeg Location Ideas for Your Brand Photo Shoot
Location is everything! If you’re in search of location ideas in or around Winnipeg for your upcoming brand photo shoot, I’ve got you. Read below for my top picks!
The Exchange District
Do you work and/or live Downtown? Maybe you’re looking for an artsy, cool vibe? The Exchange District features gorgeous historic architecture, tons of local businesses and restaurants, plus colourful murals and graffiti scattered within a few walkable blocks. There are also a few parking garages with a view if you want to capture some of that prairie sky! Hot tip: pick an overcast day to avoid major building shadows or shoot during golden hour to capture the charm of the Exchange.
The Forks Market
It’s historic, it’s central, and it’s got a little bit of everything going on! The Forks Market is a great place to do a brand photo shoot for the sheer variety of settings it has. From The Common, where you can grab a coffee (or a beer) and meet with your clients, to the EQ3 lounge and local shops upstairs, and the greenery of the outdoors, you can really have it all. Hot tip: avoid shooting on busy weekends or holidays.
Hargrave Street Market
Similar to the Forks, Hargrave Street Market has a central location that appeals to those who love the hustle and bustle of city life. The difference is that Hargrave Street Market feels more modern, both in vibes and in architecture. You can grab a drink or a meal at the food hall and take advantage of the chic decor throughout the building, or shoot outside if the weather’s nice.
Allure Studios
Founded by Adam and Nefertiti Bergen amidst the pandemic, this popular downtown studio offers five studio options under one roof. Not only does Allure Studios offer a variety of studios to choose from, but they also keep things fresh with monthly themed set-ups and rentable vintage furniture and accessories. Bonus: their studio rentals come with strobe lights, v-flats and chairs to set photographers up with the basics!
May 11 Studio
Located in Oak Bluff, Manitoba, May 11 Studio is worth the drive for its luxurious backdrops. May 11 Studios offers two separate studios, each of which includes five different themed walls and setups, for a total of 10 unique scenes! What’s great is that you have access to all the scenes, items, furniture, and lighting included in your chosen studio booking.
Our Barnes Yard
Heather Barnes’ boho-chic, plant-filled home is a content creator’s dream! It helps that she’s a full-time home decor and DIY renovation content creator who lovingly curated her space so that every corner is a photo opportunity. I love that you get access to several rooms of her home, from the living room, master bedroom, and kitchen on the main floor, to the basement living room and guest bedroom downstairs. She also recently redecorated her outdoor patio, so definitely ask about that if you’re shooting in the summer!
The Softspace Studio
This beautifully curated home-turned-studio belongs to the co-owner of Winnipeg interior design company Design Shop, Debbie Golub. Softspace offers a unique space that feels elegant yet laid back. My client remarked that Softspace felt a bit like being in Tulum, which Debbie was delighted to hear since the iconic Mexican destination was indeed an inspiration. This space is a treat to shoot in, with its natural lighting, modular couch, fireplace, chic dining area, open kitchen, hidden reading nook, sun room, and outdoor pool!
Sunday Avenue Studio
Located in St.Boniface, Sunday Avenue offers a dreamy white space that serves as a chic blank canvas for content creators, brands and photographers alike. Filled with copious amounts of southwest-facing sunlight, this bright space is known for its highly curated pieces of furniture and decor, and access to a prop inventory.
